A Little History
Our former home was built in 1932 as a church and then later on was an architect’s office, daycare, butcher shop, BBQ restaurant and bakery. The history goes on.
Vita and Burke Smith fell in love with this cute building and decided to give it a new life. With a tremendous love of books and cooking, the perfect name was born——Cookbook.
Then and Now
What started as a tiny kitchen and a lot of heart has grown into something even more exciting—now in our new home on East Avenue, the former location of Scout Wine & Cheese.
Our move marks a new chapter——but not a new story. You’ll still find the same thoughtful cooking, familiar faces, and community-driven spirit that’s always defined us. We’ve simply expanded our table. Expect more room to gather, new menu additions, and the same welcoming atmosphere that makes Cookbook feel like home.
A Love Note
from the Owners:
In our restaurant, we believe that all of our guests can become our friends, co-workers, supporters or even part of our family (it happened with us, and the details of our story will be further revealed when we write our cookbook).
In our kitchen, the chef and our cooks love preparing delicious meals, using as many local and organic ingredients as we can source for you.
At Cookbook we believe that we are welcoming you into our home. Please be mindful of and respectful to the next guests that are waiting to dine after you. Please treat our staff as you would like to be treated.
Kindly,
Vita and Burke Smith

Customer Reviews
“A stellar experience from the get-go. Seated outside, nice two top. Emily was our server and I think she’s one of the best servers we’ve ever had. Had the watermelon gazpacho — so refreshing and HOLY FLAVOR! Wild mushroom ravioli, DAMN delicious! And for dessert we took the Veda cake home. Yum!”
“This was a really great dinner! The menu is completely packed with scrumptious delights. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The Cookbook is extremely family friendly, which is great. The Ukrainian dumplings were very flavorful and the pizza was savory. Veda’s cake is both authentic and delicious. I couldn’t more highly recommend the Cookbook”
“Best meal we had in Ketchum! The food was delicious, the staff were all lovely and the outdoor atmosphere was everything we wanted on a warm summer night. We have a one year old and he loved being able to walk about the side yard. We were lucky to get in without a reservation around 7:30 but it really picked up around 8:30.Kid-friendliness: The staff was all very accommodating. They placed us around the side where there were only 4 other tables. Spacious with gravel floors which out little guy loved. Safe and off the road which is a big plus for us.”
